Part-Time Work Rules for Students in Korea

Student visa holders in Korea can work part-time under certain conditions. Following the rules keeps your visa valid.

D-2 Visa Holders

Degree-seeking students on a D-2 visa may work up to 20 hours per week during the semester and more during official breaks, provided they have permission (e.g., from the institution or immigration). Off-campus work often requires approval from the immigration office.

D-4 Visa Holders

Language students on a D-4 visa face stricter limits. Work permission is not automatic; check current immigration rules and your institution's policy before taking any job.

General Rules

  • Work only with proper permission and within the allowed hours.
  • Jobs must not violate visa conditions (e.g., certain types of entertainment work are restricted).
  • Keep your enrollment and attendance in good standing. Violating work rules can lead to visa cancellation.
