Scholarship Options in Korea for International Students

Several scholarship programs can reduce or cover tuition and living costs for international students in Korea.

Government Scholarships

The Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP/GKS) offers full tuition, airfare, and a monthly stipend. Applications are usually submitted through the Korean embassy or designated agency in your country. Deadlines are typically in the fall for the following academic year.

University Scholarships

Many universities offer merit-based or need-based scholarships for international students. These may cover partial or full tuition. Check each university's international student office website for eligibility and application steps.

Other Funding

Private foundations and exchange programs sometimes offer grants. Part-time work on a student visa is limited (e.g., 20 hours per week during the semester), so scholarships are important for long-term funding. Apply to multiple sources and meet all deadlines.
